Don't be fooled. I'm not who or what you think I am. :) Find out more about the man behind the lens and read on as I get personal. Like peeling an onion, the deeper you go and more layers you peel away, the more you want to cry. Also, you've been warned... Read on at your own risk.
Fast forward to about now. I still struggle with being around people. I know, if you've met me, you wouldn't believe that. I'm very talkative and choose to engage people. This is because of a lot of growth and my faith in Christ. I still have a record of all the hateful things people (not just kids) have said to me when I'm talking to new people and fear still creeps in and that voice that would tell me I'm a big nothing and will always big a big worthless nothing yells at me. BUT.
I've also had some amazing friends, co-workers and family who have poured into my life and showed me I have value.
I still struggle with these feelings of inadequacy and low self esteem. This is the motive behind my photography. I see people from a different perspective. Mostly, I think I just see through the facade and the masks that we often don to protect ourselves from hurt and pain (I know because I never used to take mine off). My goal and aim has become not just to see people as they are, but to capture them now with my camera along with a piece of their soul, their essence, WHO THEY ARE. Not who they've been told they are, Not what they feel like, but to see the most beautiful parts of them inside and out and then, I get to show them.
In closing, (the moment you've been waiting for) this all has culminated the last few months for me and it is for those reasons that I've changed my tag line to " You, Revealed". It's also why I've chosen to have a butterfly as an icon in my logo. The butterfly is beautiful. People always stop and look at a Monarch and think or say, "Awwww" "Amazing" "How Pretty" but the beautiful butterfly started its journey as a caterpillar. Everything that we appreciate and marvel about the butterfly started in the caterpillar. In the same way, I believe YOU are a butterfly and I want to show you off and all you're amazing qualities- Your Laugh, Your Smile, Your Sense of Adventure, Your Love of People, Your Beauty and what makes you, You.
I may be a man, but I feel things too and quite deeply. I relate and connect to all those who feel disjointed with society's norm of "beauty" and who have been hurt and scarred.
